  1. Okay...
    Here goes......

I will try my best to summarize the weekend as brief as possible and finally give you a one line verdict.

    Arsenal, Suarez, Torres, ManU
Offside, Not Offside, Not a Red card, Offside.

"Referees (and in some case the Manager :P) decide the Premiership, not the players or rest of the Managers....."

  2. I absolutely agree with u adu, after seeing week in week out,the decisions against Liverpool, i makes me wonder why football doesnt have video refferals like in hockey or tennis...Referess r having a shocking time in recent weeks....Imagine how one deecision from a linesman would have changed the feelings of millions of fans around the world...as i had that feeling untill i saw the linesman rising the flag...But as ppl say these r all part and parcel of the game and we hav to get on with it...

  3. Apart from the decisions i absolutely loved the way BR made the tactical switch at half time from 4-3-3 to 3-5-2,which gave liverpool stability in defence..and it almost nullified the threats from everton wings...

  4. Jagan, I understand making mistakes once in a while, but when you have a way of avoiding making one, especially the title changing ones, referrals could and should be implemented. The refs can also save face that way, just like cricket where the third umpire helps making a decision when the ground umpire does not have clarity.

But Michel Platini is totally against it.
He says that first it will be a goal line technology, then the offside technology and then it will be fouls and so on and so forth.
The human element from the game will cease to exist, which is kind of true.

The unpredictability of decisions, the calling off goals that have defined history. But I don't feel the human touch will never be lost as long as humans kick the ball:P

So as far as what has happened this week only goes to impress the need for a helping hand from technology.

I accept the fact that BR did what a brilliant Manager would have done but the fact of the matter is that his tactical switch proved to no purposeful end because of one wrong call. But football is football (not soccer:))and the game could have gone either way with Everton constantly attacking.

We should also look into the human error in terms of players missing chances, like the sitter that Rahim missed. So all is fair, cause if Liverpool had to win could have done so easily before the dying minutes. If that was the case where Liverpool were leading by a goal or so, then the goal that was called offside would not have come into such scrutiny along with the ref unless Everton had equalized later.

In the end, after all this ramble, I would like conclude by saying that what happens, happens without reason.

For what its worth, this weekend like many of its kind might not result in the format of refereeing, but surely would raise awareness in fans like us, reminding us that these controversies and mistakes are essential in making and scripting what we see, feel and experience with heart, called the "beautiful game".

  7. Jagan, thank you so much. Reminding oneself of his own dream is considered passion, but supporting and nurturing another's is pure friendship....
Everyone who has kicked a ball or busted a foot time and time again, for the joy of playing always dreams about a day when reality calls them up for a game in their promise land, the place where some things mean much more important than life or death:-)
